Spirit of Bethesda Endowment Fund

Excerpt from the Jan, Feb. March 1946 issue of the Bethesda Herald newsletter:

"One of Bethesda's highly prized assets is intangible. We will designate it as the Bethesda Spirit. To define it is not an easy task. It is as old as Bethesda; the founders of the work gave birth to it. Succeeding generations have diligently guarded and nourished this spirit. It was born of an intense desire to provide the best medical care and hospital service for those who could pay little or nothing... Patients have frequently commented on the atmosphere of friendly interest shown by Bethesda personnel."

The Board of Directors recently created the Spirit of Bethesda Endowment Fund for donors who want to perpetuate the Bethesda tradition of excellent care through an endowed gift. Earnings from gifts designated for the Spirit of Bethesda Endowment Fund provide a permanent source of revenue for meeting the objectives of capital improvements, supporting benevolent care for residents, and bridging the gap between third party reimbursements and the actual cost of providing quality care.
